David’s extensive experience in building approvals and certification, Building Code and town planning consultancy ensures that clients are provided with direction in areas of development and development consent matters, fire and life safety upgrading and fire engineering.

David’s knowledge and experience in building and planning regulation matters for medium and high density residential, educational, commercial, industrial, residential aged care and Places of Public Entertainment developments ensures the client will achieve a cost efficient development with the ability to incorporate innovative design options outside of traditional prescribed building regulations.

In addition to the above David has experience in other relevant fields including assessment, peer review and formulation of alternative solutions; mediation and negotiations with Council, assessment of specialised building classifications including residential aged care and Places of Public Entertainment together with assessment and certification of Crown projects.

Brian is an Accredited Building Surveyor and has 20 years experience in the Building Code and Town Planning fields within the construction industry, in both Local Government and also the private sector.  Brian’s extensive knowledge of the statutory regulation requirements for development within NSW ensures the client is afforded with superior guidance in building regulation matters, fire and life safety assessment and also urban planning.

Brian has been the accredited certifier/project team leader for several large development projects throughout the state including various refurbishments of existing buildings, aged care and health care developments, mixed commercial/residential developments; multi storey residential buildings; large scale public buildings including Places of Public Entertainment, and refurbishments of metropolitan public High Schools and regional Catholic Schools.

Brian’s knowledge and experience in the field offers the client expertise in Fire Engineering design appraisal, Principal Certifying Authority, Land and Environment Court matters, and mediation with local consent authority.

Dean is an Accredited Grade 1 Certifier and Building Surveyor with over 12 years extensive experience in both the local government and private consultancy sectors of the building regulations industry.  He has a diverse knowledge of the application of and interpretation of the Building Code of Australia and related building legislation.  

Dean is conversant with all aspects of code consulting including assessment of performance based alternative solutions, disabled access issues, review of fire services design and town planning matters.

Dean’s expertise is in large commercial, retail and industrial buildings.  He has recently been involved with projects for Woolworths, Coles Myer, Castle Towers Shopping Centre, BOC Gases and Newcastle Mater Hospital.

Tony brings with him over 10 years of experience in the private sector alone.  Further to this he also has experience in the public sector which included working as Airport Building Controller with the Commonwealth Government and for both Wyong and Concord Councils.

Tony’s understanding of the Building Code of Australia along with his education and the skills he’s gained in the field give him the experience to assess Construction Certificate applications, Occupation Certificate applications, provide BCA consultancy, carry out progress inspections, inspect and report on BCA compliance of existing buildings and coordination of annual essential services certification.

His knowledge and expertise extend to all types of building developments, most recently he has been involved with large commercial, residential, industrial, retail, educational, recreational, public entertainment, health and seniors living projects.

Adam joined the Company (then known as Blackett Maguire & Associates) at the beginning of 2003.  He has had over 6 years experience operating in the private sector as a Building Surveyor. In that time Adam has gained a broad knowledge of the legislative framework for numerous types of development within NSW which ensures clients are assisted in matters pertaining to development consent, building regulation and fire and life safety.

Throughout his time with our Company, Adam has been involved in providing a range of services to clients including building code consultancy for large scale developments along with his continual involvement in the assessment and approval of projects.  These projects range from medium scale residential developments, industrial developments together with internal fitouts of existing commercial developments.

In early 2006, after a year in Local Government, Steven joined the Company (then known as Blackett Maguire & Associates).  Steven gained high distinctions in his Diploma in Environmental Health and Building Surveying, and was also awarded the Petersham College Achievement Award and the TAFE NSW State Medal Award.

Steven has worked in the Construction industry for over 10 years and has extensive knowledge of Building Regulations.  He is currently working on residential and commercial developments assisting his colleagues with assessments and approvals.

Matt has recently joined the Company, as a Building Regulations Consultant after a successful 3 year stint with another private Building Certification Firm based in the Sydney CBD. Matt gained high distinctions in his Diploma in Environmental Health and Building Surveying, and has also completed the Graduate Diploma of Building Surveying at the University of western Sydney.

Matt’s experience includes all aspects of building regulations from residential development, to large to medium scale retail, commercial and industrial developments. Prior to his employment in the private sector Matt was employed as a Building Surveyor at Randwick Council for a period of 6 years where he gained essential experience in all aspects of the local government planning and building approvals system.

Luke is a new member of the Blackett Maguire + Goldsmith Team and has over 11 years experience as a Building Surveyor, working in both the private and public sectors. During this time he has gained a sound knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and the relevant legislative requirements associated with development in New South Wales.

Luke has a Grade A2 Accreditation with the Building Professionals Board and is responsible for issuing Construction Certificates, Complying Development Certificates and Occupation Certificates for projects relevant to his accreditation. Luke’s role in the company includes providing Building Code consultancy services associated with new and existing buildings.

Laura joined the team as Accounts Manager and has extensive experience in the Finance Industry. Her key role at Blackett Maguire + Goldsmith is looking after all the accounts for the company.
